Number Sixteen
KENSINGTON, LONDON
COMPLETED 2005
Number Sixteen, a Grade II listed building, is a charming boutique hotel located in the vibrant South Kensington area. Its prime location offers easy access to Hyde Park and renowned museums such as the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Greenway Associates were appointed the Cost Consultant for this project.
OUR ROLE
Greenway Associates began feasibility and cost analysis for Number Sixteen in 2003. The hotel, located in London, remained operational throughout the renovation process. The extensive repairs, redecorations, and refurbishments took approximately a year to complete. By early 2005, the hotel had been rebranded and incorporated into the Firmdale Hotels portfolio, marking the successful conclusion of this major upgrade.
Subsequently, Greenway Associates provided initial costings for the addition of the Orangery, a tree-filled private garden at the rear of the hotel.
THE PROJECT
The project involved extensive repairs and upgrades to communal areas, corridors, the conservatory, and guest rooms. Significant modernization efforts included installing air conditioning, updating internet and data cabling, incorporating contemporary joinery, and replacing plumbing and sanitary ware. New windows and enhanced lighting were also added. The redecoration was completed in the signature classic Kit Kemp style. All repairs and improvements were meticulously supervised by Firmdale Hotels' dedicated maintenance team.
