Who Am I?

SCIENCE MUSEUM
LONDON - COMPLETED 2010

Greenway Associates are proud to have worked on two of the main permanent exhibitions at the Science Museum, both of which opened in 2010. “Who Am I?” invites visitors to explore the science of who you are through intriguing objects, provocative artworks and hands-on exhibits. “Atmosphere” is a virtual world, with its own oceans, land and atmosphere that invites visitors to make sense of the climate—the science of how it works, what it’s doing now and what it might do next.

OUR ROLE

Greenway Associates provided cost planning, procurement and post-contract cost control advice for both permanent exhibitions.

WHO AM I?

This permanent gallery relating to brain science and genetics, which first opened ten years ago, has been redeveloped to reflect advances in the field. Visitors can now explore the science of the self through high-tech interactive exhibits such as software that shows how your face will age and predicts how your voice will change over the years, and delve into how factors such as the family gene pool and our interactions with other people help define who we become.

This project was procured as a single main contract with the Client’s direct contracts (ie audio-visual hardware and software installation). Some of the works undertaken were the installation of new bespoke-pattern rubber floor for the entire gallery, refurbishment of existing showcases, refurbishment of existing ‘bloids’ (aluminium structures with GRP interactive surfaces) and the installation of bespoke joinery elements with recessed interactive touch screens.

The Who Am I? exhibition is still exhibiting at The Science Museum over 10 years after completion.
